Sumba is an Island in the "Nusa Tenggara" of Indonesia. As with all  "Ikat" weavings, this was woven on a Bbackstrap looms and the colors and

patterns (motif) were created by binding the warp threads with knotts and dying them before they were put on the loom

and woven with the weft.
